Breech-loading Fire-arms.

(Provisional Protection not allowed.)

PROVISIONAL SPECIFICATION left by Edwin Johnson at the Office of the Commissioners of Patents, with his Petition, on the 31st July 1871.

I, EDWIN JOHNSON, of Lee Villas, Addiscombe, in the County of Surrey, Esquire, do hereby declare the nature of the said Invention for “Improvements In Breech-loading Rifles, Pistols, and Fowling Pieces,” to be as follows:—

My Invention of improvements in breech-loading rifles, pistols, and fowling pieces consists of constructing such fire-arms with three revolving chambers which are caused to revolve by the action of the trigger, and which chambers are loaded with twelve or more cartridges placed in the cases and fitting in the stock of the fire-arm, the pulling of the trigger, firing, loading, and extracting the empty cartridge and ejecting it from the chamber.

The fire-arm constructed on this principle is self-cocking, loading, and revolving.
